💗🐾 Meet Millie

Hi, I’m Millie!

I’ve just turned one year old, I’m a tiny 6.5kg, and I’m a happy, playful little girl who likes to be involved in absolutely everything.

If the harness comes out, I’m usually first in line. I love my walks, car rides, meeting people and other dogs, and I’m always ready for a game - whether that’s chase, tug, or a good wrestle with a doggy friend.

At home I’m incredibly affectionate. I’ll happily curl up on your lap, tuck myself under your chin in bed, and sleep under the covers beside you. I also like to keep an eye on where you are… at all times. Yes, that includes following you to the bathroom (Just in case you needed company).

I’m confident meeting new people, and I’m happiest when I’m included in everyday family life.

⚠️ A few important things you need to know about me

Before applying, please take the time to read my full profile carefully.

I’m a lovely young girl, but I do have specific needs, and it’s really important my new family understands and is comfortable with them.

I am a vocal dog. I bark when I’m playing, when I notice people or dogs outside, when I’m startled, and sometimes when something in my environment changes.

I can also become anxious, jumpy and hyper-aware in busy or unpredictable environments. Because of this, I need a home that is calm, structured and relatively predictable.

I also experience separation anxiety. I like knowing where my person is and feel most secure when I’m not alone. I can manage a short trip out if another dog is home with me, but I am not suited to being left for long periods.

🏡 My new home MUST have

Please only apply if you meet all of the following:

✔️ A young, playful resident dog — this is essential for my wellbeing
✔️ Someone home for the majority of the day (work from home, retired or similar)
✔️ A calm, stable and predictable household
✔️ Children aged 10 years or older only
✔️ An owner who is patient and comfortable with barking, anxiety and a dog who likes to stay close
✔️ A commitment to ongoing training and confidence building
✔️ A family who will include me in walks, outings and daily life

❌ I am NOT suited to

❌ Being an only dog
❌ A home where I will be regularly left alone for long periods
❌ Children under 10
❌ A very busy, loud or unpredictable household
❌ A home where barking will be an issue
❌ Someone looking for a quiet, independent or low-needs dog

💗 What I’m like day-to-day

I’m toilet trained, although I haven’t quite mastered the dog door just yet — for now, I’ll stand at the door and let you know when I need to go out.

I’m good on lead, enjoy meeting people and other dogs on my walks, and I’m excellent in the car (I’m usually ready before you are).

I’m not a big eater, but I do enjoy treats like dehydrated chicken, fruit and crunchy carrots.

I’m also very easy to care for — I’m good with baths and brushing, and once I’m settled in bed, I sleep soundly and peacefully through the night.

I’ve been great with other dogs and older children, however due to my sensitivity to noise and activity, my forever home must have children aged 10 or over.
I have not been tested with cats.

🩺 My medical history — please read carefully

There is one important part of my history that my future family must understand.

I came into rescue after my previous owner had concerns that some behaviours may have been seizures. I was assessed by two veterinarians, however no medical cause was identified.

Since then, I have been in foster care for five weeks and have been closely monitored. During this time, no seizures or abnormal neurological behaviours have been observed, and I have been cleared by the vet.

When I first arrived, I also showed some tenderness in my lower back and hips. Blood tests and X-rays were completed, and all results were normal. No further concerns have been observed.

While everything has been reassuring, it is important to understand:

➡️ Rescue cannot guarantee that neurological symptoms will not present in the future.

My new family must be:
✔️ Comfortable with this uncertainty
✔️ Prepared for the possibility of future medical needs
✔️ Willing to take on this responsibility before applying

💗 Could I be your girl?

I’m still young and learning about the world. I’m playful, affectionate, social and always ready to be part of whatever you’re doing.

I’m also sensitive, vocal and very people-focused, I form strong bonds and thrive in the right environment.

I won’t be the right fit for every home, and that’s okay! Finding the right home is what matters most.

If you can offer me the companionship, routine, patience and understanding I need, and you’ve read and understood everything above, we would love to receive your Expression of Interest.
